Chipley Park between Library and Hall of Brotherhood: The Florida Pioneer Family is a ministry-based educational camp using authentic or reproduction materials to show how a family settling the Florida Panhandle might have looked during the 1920s. The setup has living areas, work areas, food, kitchen, and even some recreational activities. Whether it be a traditional settler of the 1920s who came looking for land and wealth or the centuries old Cracker Pioneers who might have simply squatted, the camp is a reflection of those times past when a family would come by wagon, train, or automobile and live off the land while homesteading. Visitors are free to touch items, ask questions, and get a bite to eat by the fire!
Chipley Park behind Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood: This indoor nature trail by the Florida Forest Service and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) displays the flora and fauna of forests in the state with special emphasis on the historical fact that Arbor Day in Florida was inspired by a presentation in 1885 on the grounds of the historic Florida Chautauqua Assembly in DeFuniak Springs. This tented exhibit sits on the very spot that presentation took place in 1885 which inspired Arbor Day in Florida! For the 2023 Assembly, the Trail will focus on the logging and turpentine industries which were integral to the 1920s economy throughout the Florida Panhandle. 4-H will also be offering Make and Take activities for children!
Chipley Park across from Amphitheatre: Owners of these vintage campers invite you to view their lovingly refurbished 1940-60s era trailers and to learn about the lifestyle of the campers who originated this club in 1919.
Walton-DeFuniak Library, 3 Circle Drive: Join Christopher Robin as he reads Pooh's favorite stories. After the reading, take photos with Winnie the Pooh and his friends, Piglet and Eeyore (actual miniature piglet and miniature donkey)!
Between Library and Hall of Brotherhood: The Bookmobile will be open for circulation (check-in/check-out of library materials and to pick up holds.) We will be signing new patrons up for library cards as well as sharing our free library resources.
Hall of Brotherhood: Monda Duncan, a local disc golf player, will lead this interactive outdoor exhibit, which will begin with a brief history of disc golf followed by an actual disc golf game! Prizes will also be given out.
