Below are recent (2013) pics of the second floor of Lakeside Building, formerly known as Lakeside Hospital. This floor was added in 1948. The Totten Family acquired the building in the 1980s and turned the second floor into a livings quarter. The first floor remains a rental property. The entire building is now the official headquarters of Florida's historic Chautauqua Assembly!
If you were born at Lakeside after 1949, you were most likely born here!
Hospital kitchen remodled after Lakeside Hospital closed in 1972. Pass-through (on left) accesses the operating room. Dumb waiter on front right still works. Hole in ceiling caused by major leak.
The hallway "call-lights" above the hospital room doors still work! Original tile is under the carpet.
This room is on the front end of Lakeside Building.
We welcome any photographs of the inside of Lakeside Hospital taken from the time the building was under construction (1937) until the hospital closed on January 31, 1972.

Control switches on the walls control the call lights above the hosptial room doors. Does anyone know what the control knobs looked like? We need replacements. Also, we need more brass cover plates as you see above. Photo by Chris Mitchell
The elevator is the first operating elevator between Tallahassee and Pensacola, FL. It not only still works, but it just passed (2013) a grueling state state inspection! Above is an inspector placing more than 2,500 lbs. of weights on the elevator to test its strength. Passed "with flying colors!" Photo by Chris Mitchell
