Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony is a free event at the Lake Amphitheater on Thursday, March 14, from 5:30 pm- 6 pm followed by Opening Activities 6 pm - 9 pm. This exciting event will introduce the keynote speakers, faculty, and other Assembly participants and serve as the kick-off event for the 2024 Assembly welcoming our participants and kicking off the bicentennial celebration
Performance
The Opening Ceremony will feature music by the Walton County Community Band and North Okaloosa Band. We will have guest singer Uma Jolly providing vocals for the National Anthem. Adult beverages will be served in the lake yard tavern next to the amphitheater and a variety of lawn games will be set aglow for some evening fun.

Paper boat making workshop
Make a paper boat out of environmentally friendly sugar cane pulp paper. Then afterward we will set an environmentally friendly soy candle within it, light it up, and launch it on the lake.
We will do this in honor of the Bicentennial. Feel free to light up a paper boat in memory of a loved one and say a prayer as the boats drift across the water.
