Vespers is one of the canonical hours in Eastern and Coptic Orthodox, Roman and Eastern Catholic, Lutheran, and Anglican or Episcopal liturgies. The word for this fixed prayer time comes from the Greek ἑσπέρα and the Latin vesper, meaning "evening" or at the “lighting of the lamp.” Prayers, psalms, and canticles are conducted according to a set form. If most of these are sung the service may be called Evensong or if most are said it may be called Evening Prayer. Vespers, Evening Prayer, or Evensong will be held at the amphitheater.
Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church is a place where people can meet Jesus, and engage in a life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts, and use them for God's glory. Join Rev. Josh Purvis and the Pleasant Ridge praise team for Friday night's Evening Prayer and Evensong.
