The Welcome Party is a ticketed dinner event at Cafe NOLA on Thursday, April 13, from 6:00pm-8pm. This exciting event will introduce the keynote speakers, faculty, and other Assembly participants and serves as the kick-off event for the 2023 Assembly.
The Welcome Party will feature light background cocktail music by Christine Lauen, pictured left.
Christine Lauen is an accomplished pianist, music educator, and member of the Bonifay community for 40 years. Born into a family of musicians, she has been surrounded by music her entire life and developed a passion for it that runs deep in her veins. From an early age, Christine showed an aptitude for playing the piano and honed her skills under the guidance and encouragement of her parents who were accomplished musicians themselves. As a high schooler, she moved from Pennsylvania to Bradenton, FL with her family. Christine went on to earn a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of West Florida and a master's degree from Troy University.
With 37 years of experience as a teacher, Christine has inspired countless students to develop their own love for music. She has taught music classes from kindergarten level to college, as well as private piano and voice lessons. She also served as an adjunct music instructor for the University of West Florida. In addition to her work as a music educator, Christine serves as the staff accompanist at the Baptist College of Florida and the First Baptist Church of Bonifay. Her musical talent and dedication to her community have made her a respected and beloved member of the local music scene. Many times, you can find her onstage or in the orchestra pit accompanying high school and community college musical theater productions.
This fall, Christine and her husband, David Lauen Sr, are celebrating their 50th anniversary, not only as a married couple, but also serving as a team in music ministry – a testament to their love and commitment to God and to each other. They are grateful that their 3 children, their spouses, and 9 grandchildren are similarly involved in their respective music ministries and schools. Christine is always eager to have an opportunity to share her love of faith, family, and music.
